DMA wins two Antenna Awards!

We are the champions! The 2014 Antenna Awards were held on the 1st October at Deakin’s Edge Melbourne and Disability Media Australia came away big winners! Hosted by Tegan Higginbotham there were guest presenters such as Dave Thornton and Phillis Foundis and video packages featuring DMA patron Stella Young and Minister for the Arts the Hon. Heidi Victoria.Despite the majority of speeches including passionate pleas to Malcolm Turnbull to save community television, the overwhelming feeling in the room was one of positivity and celebration for the little channel that could. DMA won 2 awards from 3 nominations, missing out on Outstanding Factual, Current Affairs or Interview Program to Undercurrent, and winning Outstanding Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Program (CALD) for Disability In The Solomons (No Limits) and the big prize Program of the Year for No Limits. The CALD award was accepted by Producer and Writer of the episode Naomi Chainey who filmed while over in the Solomons meeting up ¬†with relatives. Program of the Year was accepted by CEO of DMA Sarah Barton, Chairman Greg Dee, employee and No Limits presenter Nicole Smith, producer and freelancer Naomi Chainey and DMA board member and No Limits presenter Phineas Meere. Congratulations everyone!
